I messed up. We walked to the nearby convenience store. I tied him up when I went in. He slipped out of his harness and was hit by a car halfway home. I found him and a random person offered a ride to the vet. I searched for an open emergency vet, but overlooked one that was closer. Lost my soul dog today at 11.5 years old after a brave battle with hemangiosarcoma. My heart is irretrievably broken but I feel so lucky that I got to be his mom. I got her from a shelter 11 years ago within 1 hour of being put down. Rottweiler / Bull Mastiff mix. She was about a year old when I got her. I think she would have lived a couple years more if it wasn’t for stomach cancer. I took her to the park every day. She loved chasing ground squirrels. People would cross to the other side of the street when they saw her but they didn’t know she was super gentle. Her dog bed was two feet from my home office desk so she was next to me all day ever
