| I had to make the call yesterday. He was 14+ years old and was hanging in there, still able to get up and go on short walks every day. I had started him on anti-inflammatory and pain meds a little while back and it def seemed top have taken the edge of off his difficulties. BUT, from what seemed like one day to the next, he presented FOR A SECOND TIME (about a year ago was the first time...we got thought it) a vestibular inner ear infection. This unfortunately was the icing on the cake. He was the kindest, sweetest, most gentile dog I have ever had the pleasure of living my life with. My youngest son was able to come and be with him and love him all the way until the end. I could see the excitement in Lex's eyes and how comforting it was to him to have him there. That was what I needed to see so I could make it through this too. Bless all our beautiful animals. [link] [comments] |
