i met a dog and i can’t stop thinking about him

i was volunteering at my local shelter recently and i met this dog named Denali. his chill temperament and soft gaze reminded me so much of my recently deceased dog of 13yrs. and idk if it’s grief speaking or not but something about him just calls me to him. he was so sweet and gentle. i just can’t get over him. i wish so badly i could take him home with me but my mom isn’t too much of a dog person and the passing of our family dog hit her so hard she’s afraid to love another dog again. i just want to know if it’s grief speaking or is this dog special? or just general advice on how to quell the voice in my head yelling for me to go back to the shelter and get him.
