Happy bday to my old man!

My baby, my little man, my rat, my childhood dog turns 15. He was a rescue so we don't know his exact bday but it's estimated June-august. Had him since he was a pup. Got him for Christmas in 2010 and he hasn't left my side since.

Sad time and advise please for those with senior dogs. How do you muster the courage to take them to the vet? I'm scared they are gonna tell me he needs to be put down. He's not the healthiest and has bad arthritis. And a bad eye right now. I'm scared to take him to the vet. I don't wanna loose him.
