She beat cancer!

She beat cancer!

This is Misty. Who has now added “Miracle” and “Hercules” to the many other nicknames she’s acquired over her 14 years of life with us.

Back April, she was having consistent stomach issues and wasn’t eating. She lost about 10 lbs over the course of a few weeks and was incredibly underweight. Throughout all this, she was diagnosed with a pretty aggressive lymphoma following a whole slew of vet visits and tests with specialist. We met with the Oncology team at our local Sage vet center who discussed options with us but advised that the extent of the cancer was severe and she likely didn’t have much time left.

We opted to do chemo but not surgery, and have become frequent buyers of pill pockets due to all the meds that were needed multiple times per day.

Throughout the summer she slowly added weight back on. She’s now back up to her previous healthy weight of ~42 lbs.

Just a few days ago, a couple weeks after her third round of chemo, the oncology dept wanted to do some more scans to see how she looked since she had exceeded expectations for recovery. They called later with excellent news and said there were ZERO SIGNS OF CANCER and she was in FULL REMISSION!

I know we so often see sad posts here about folks who haven’t been so lucky so I just wanted to share some good news. The attached picture is her ride home from the vet following that clean bill of health.

Love your pups, you’re their whole world.
