I filmed our trip from Pennsylvania to Maine with our boxer boy Bilbo.

12 hours in the car, our first long distance adventure, and he did such a great job in the car. Around hour 8, you could tell he was asking “what are we doing here, guys?” By hour 10, he was saying “this is just our lives now. And I’m not happy about it.” That being said, he was perfectly polite the whole time.

We visited my wife’s college friend of many years. They attended Maine Maritime Academy together. So they had a great understanding of fun places to explore and local restaurants/shops.

Bilbo has a blast. He absolutely loved his new friends, who we stayed in a B&B with. And we did so much hiking and exploring to keep him sleepy for all of the driving around we were doing. The highlight, other than the company, was Bilbo seeing the ocean for the first time. He was very hesitant of the water crashing and creeping into and off of the beach. He loved the sand though, as you can see on the clip above. He particularly enjoyed ripping dried out clumps of seaweed to shreds. And the smells… so many new smells.

Frankly, I can’t wait to find another excuse to travel so Bilbo can continue his adventure. I had a great time documenting this trip, too! It’s so nice to have these memories of the boy to watch and share with friends.
