Two of our dogs died 6 days apart

My beautiful 10 year old Maynard and my mom's beautiful 11 year old Mufasa died 6 days apart in the same room - the rainbow room at the ER.

Mufasa (chocolate lab) died suddenly of a very silent very aggressive cancer of the lining of the blood cells, by the time we got to the ER they told us he was bleeding internally and the cancer had spread. He had blood work done only a few months prior but the vet said it's a very silent cancer with no symptoms. It's also a very difficult and aggressive cancer, it targets the blood organs like the heart and the spleen. We helped him cross but he was already hanging on by a thread, it happened so quickly. He died 10/19/2024

Maynard had been diagnosed with elevated kidney levels and was on K/D hill science diet. The prescription food is basically the only way to treat kidney disease in dogs. He didn't have any major symptoms but was refusing his kidney food, shoving it around and having odd behavior with food and I'm a paranoid dog mom so I took him to the ER given what had just happened with Mufasa only a few days earlier... It turns out that Maynard's kidney levels had gone up and the kidney food hadn't been working. It had only been three months but the ER vet said that kidney disease progresses quickly. He was hospitalized and they tried to treat his kidneys getting them to work but unfortunately my boy wasn't responding to the treatment and they said he was in final stage kidney failure and he could go home on hospice but we would only have days or weeks until he would succumb to kidney failure. Unfortunately that night at the ER he threw up and aspirated 😩 causing pneumonia. They got him on oxygen and early the next morning my husband I knew that Maynard wasn't going to come home... At this point we were just trying to push off the inevitable. We called the three kids (16,21,23) and told them today was the day and we all met at the hospital... Maynard was surrounded by his whole family when he drifted off into eternity. Mufasa and Maynard died in the same room 6 days apart. Maynard died on 10/25/2024

Two days later Tabatha died peacefully at home at midnight 10/28/2024
