Advice for dying dog?

Came back from vacation, and parents dog was having issues so I took to vet. After tests, heart is too big and pressing on lungs and throat (esophagus). Doctors wanted to do a lot more tests to know how bad it is. But they admitted that is still a guess... and they offered a diaretic? To help her pee more and keep fluid out of lungs, but fluid would still be going in there. Just less.

So question is, do I put her down sooner or later?

Been watching for when she struggles breathing or faints because heart is pumping and she isn't getting enough oxygen. Original thought was go with gut and if it seems to get more common or she looks in pain, then do the deed. We don't have the money for the additonal tests, and with taking care of parents, they wouldn't be able to do extra work to take care of her on meds. She still has energy to play (again watching excitement) and been giver her human foods in case time gets close. Like a trear. So, asking general public for thoughts.
