This was Malibu. Malibu was the most gentle, sweet, loving, silliest, and most of all supportive dog I have ever known. Unfortunately, earlier this year I had to make the decision to let him rest as he was about 13 years old and was developing severe arthritis and wasn’t eating properly resulting in him losing pretty much all of his muscle. He did not seem to be happy anymore and after trying to do everything to keep him healthy it just wasn’t working. It was his time and I had to accept that. I was with him in the end along with my mom, grandma, and brother. When we left the vet, I lost my composure and just let all of my emotions out. I cried while sitting in the car with my grandma and holding a vial of his hair. I am 22 now so he obviously was a very large part of my life and now I feel a hole in my heart. He has helped me through so much grief and pain and I will never forget him. He was pretty skittish but loved people and other dogs (except for the one time an estranged family member came to visit). Despite how sweet he was, he would not hesitate to protect his family if he sensed a threat. I have so many stories of him being a complete dork and that was one of my favorite things about him. He always knew how to make everyone laugh by just doing the dumbest things. He had an obsession with licking absolutely everything lol. Also, I’m pretty sure the house is never going to be rid of his god awful fur 😂
Anyway, just wanted to tell people about this amazing dog and just remember all the good times I had with him. Oh and in case anyone asks, he was a red heeler mixed with an Australian shepherd
