Don't look if you're squeamish.. My poor dog had to have her eye removed today.

My poor little Chihuahua had to have her right eye fully removed today.

Shes been having ongoing issues with ulcers for the past 6 - 8 weeks. Frequent trips to the vets and several types of eyedrops, tablets, and liquid pain relief. Today I took her again as her eye has become considerably worse and the vet said her eye had ruptured.

Apparently it wasn't anything that I had done or not done, sometimes if the ulcer isn't responding to treatment and becomes too deep it can rupture the eye.

I left her at 11am, picked her up at 5pm and she's been an absolute star. Slightly struggling with certain things (due to the vision loss), like not walking straight or misjudging how far away her bowl is. I don't think she's going to be happy sleeping in a crate for the next week instead of my bed!

I must have spent roughly 3 hours crying this morning when I left her and 2 hours crying when I picked her up, but glad she's okay and back home.
