| | The best and most beautiful of puppers. The lil Purple-Tongue. The Fluff-Butt. The Little Wiggle. The Prince in Splendor. Voted Most Likely to be Found Sleeping on a Mound of Pillows. My Baby. He was two months shy of his 10th birthday, a super fit and health Chow/GSD/Retriever mix. We’d go for four mile walks twice a day and he crushed it. He went for 6 month check ups and got full bloodwork panels every year, and his teefers cleaned each year. He had a helicopter Mahm who took him to the Dogtor all the time if she got sketched out by something. He became super sick out of nowhere and began rapidly losing weight. Vet couldn’t figure out what was going on, bloodwork wasn’t showing anything alarming. Abdomen started swelling but US only showed fluid build up. Went back and forth with overnight stays as he stopped eating and would vomit up water and any of the little food he would eat. Started passing pure bile. At the 3 week mark we scheduled an exploratory laparotomy. He had lost 15 lbs of his 65 and was in constant pain, with his abdomen so swollen he couldn’t hop on the bed and would only sleep on tile in the bathroom. During the laparotomy the vet, who we’ve had care for our pups for 20 years, found his abdomen full of bloody flux and everything covered with metastasized cancer, originating in his pancreas. We didn’t wake him up. If your pup shows any of these signs, please take them to the vet immediately. 🤍 Mahm and Dad miss you every day, Little Snugs. [link] [comments] |
