Monday morning my dog woke up sick, he already had tons of stomach problems and is missing most of his intestines so when it happens it's usually that he got into something other than his dog food. I called the vet and we talked about switching up the dog food so I went in and got some, they said try it later in the day, give his stomach time to rest. So along came 1pm my dog drank two whole bowls of water so I decided I should let him out. He went right out and laid down but seemed pretty alert. I went back 5min later and he refused to come in, again still very alert. I went back multiple times because it was only 40 out. My husband said just keep checking on him, he's a lab he's not that cold and the air probably feels good to him. So I let him stay out there for maybe an hour and half while I kept checking on him. Well an hour and a half later it started to rain and ran out there and tried to get him to come in, he wouldn't let me even pull him in. After trying and trying he just laid back down on his side and looked so bad. I ran in calling everyone I could to help me get him in, he's a 120lb lab. No one was answering, vets are telling me to get him in and bring him there. Finally I got ahold of my mom we got him in and he passed on the way to the vet. I was so broken, the vet keeps telling me he died of septic and there was no way bringing him in earlier would have done anything. She kept reassuring me I did everything I could for a dog who was always ill. But I can't get over how he was out so long and then in the pouring rain because I couldn't get him in. I feel like it's all my fault and no one understands
