So my little angel, Paige had this really nasty large sebaceous cyst on her back that apparently had become infected. It would get big, bleed and excrete puss...then clog up with a big nasty crust. It didn't seem to hurt her, just itch really bad. The vet didn't initially worry about it and just gave us this antibiotic spray. After about a month, it didn't seem to get any better so we got it checked out again. This time, they recommended we get it removed in case it gets worse. So yesterday, we dropped her off in the morning, blood work went well and it began. When it was finished, that afternoon we went to pick her up. They had made a larger incision than we thought they would...it wasn't as big as this. They just wanted to make sure they got the entire thing which is fine. What bothered me a little is that they had to cut all the way down to the muscle to remove the whole thing. Extremely drugged out and sore, we brought her home.
We were basically up all night with her as she did nothing but cry. (Which is unique for her because she doesn't make much noise at all unless she's howling at the train.)
This morning, she's doing much better. Still sore... obviously...but she's actually kind of like herself again almost instantly! Dancing and excited to eat, she managed to keep food and her meds down... I'm so proud of her. She's so brave!
Next week, she gets the stitches removed, but we still have a whole week of recovery to get through. But seeing as how good she is, my little girl is going to fly through this effortlessly.
Earlier this year, she survived the heartworm shots. She's such a strong dog....my absolute spirit animal and best friend. 💖
