My 19 year old peekaweenie

His name is Talon, he's 19½ years old and still truckin'! Yep, 19! He's part Dachshund and part Pekingese, hence the peekaweenie. Lol

He's nearly blind and mostly deaf, but he enjoys a good treat, running around the yard with his pack (yes he still runs! Although due to his dementia, he walks in circles a lot on his bad days. And he sundowns. Also gets stuck in corners a lot ).

We recently got him a dog stroller since he loved walks so much but can't quite make it to the park on foot. He really enjoys it!

He also wears diapers for the occasional accident, but it doesn't happen often. It's amazing how healthy he is!

He's always been a dog that's been in his own little world, never really bonding with anyone, but we love him just the same!

We adopted him when he was 9 from a not so great person who was planning on dumping him at the shelter just to get a puppy.

We told him we hope we can at least give him another 9 years of happiness and love, but so far he's surpassed that mark! He just might make it to 20! He's been through a lot in his 19 years, and is one tough and resilient little pup!

Also want to add that some people might say "oh he's blind and deaf and sundowns, etc. He needs to be put down."

Believe me, I have had a lot of experience with dogs, and lost many. I know when a pup doesn't have a great quality of life and will be ready to make that decision if and when the time comes. He's very happy though. He loves to be held and scratched, absolutely devours his food and his treats. He plays with my Husky/Eskimo mix and hangs out with my two other dogs. He loves his stroller walks and wandering around in the yard. He still has some time and enjoyment left. ❤️
