I lost my girl Peaches unexpectedly today.
She was perfectly healthy, only 3 years old. Our exterior door wasn’t fully latched, the wind pushed it open, and she got outside. We live on a quiet residential road with a 25 mph speed limit, and somehow she was hit by a car just about one house down from home. Whoever hit her didn’t stop

I’m still having a hard time understanding how something so permanent could happen so quickly on such a normal day.
Peaches had a full life in the years I had her. She lived on farms, lived in the city, had her own backyard, went to dog parks, met most of my family, and somehow always managed to convince me that whatever I was eating should also be hers.
She slept with me every night, woke up with me every morning, and we snuggled every day. She loved being close to me, and I loved having her there.
Rest easy, Peaches. You were so loved, sweet girl. I’ll always remember you.
