I'm really hurting right now. Maybe sharing this story will help.
My grandpa moved in with my family and I when his health began declining back in 2018. He got me a german shepherd puppy and he was my best friend. We understood each other so well. He really was the best dog and friend I could ever ask for. Grandpa passed away earlier this year in March. My Ronald passed away 30 days later in April. For a while it hurt but over time I came to peace with it. But these last few weeks have been so hard. I thought I had learned how to live without them but I'm wrong. I cleaned up his grave site this morning to spend some time with him. I miss him so much. The only comforting thought I have is knowing that Grandpa and Ronald are no longer in pain. They are at peace.
