Said goodbye to Sir Charles “Charlie” today after 17 wonderful years

We brought him into our family 17 years ago today exactly. He was going very strong, ran up the stairs last night, went to bed, and had a stroke sometime during the night. He was brought to the emergency vet this morning and was put down shortly after the family had gathered to say goodbye. We all thought he was going to live forever at this point, even this old it still comes as a shock and broke our hearts.

I was five years old when we brought him home. Truly lucky to have been around this endlessly sweet, loyal, dopey, and incredible little dog. I know he’s kicking it with his big sister Heidi, our black lab, who passed away at age 15 ten years ago. Pictured with puppy Charlie in slide 4.

Our family was so in love with this dog. He will be deeply missed, and I just wanted to share a bit of our beautiful life with him.

We made many a “Charlie bit my finger” joke, but they were always happy, playful bites. RIP buddy, we love you very much.

I plan to carve a stone for him to give to my mother and father.
