Happy, 17 years old

for 17 years he was our sentry, always watching the door and the first one to greet me whenever I returned home from trips. My dad brought him home from Mexico and he was so small he could fit in a shoe box.

For some reason he liked to play with rocks.

Recently this past Sunday his health took a downturn with the vet telling us he had a mass on his kidney along with his failing eyesight, aching joints, and some sort of spina injury. He was put to sleep earlier today and he’s now resting in the side yard he loved to run in, beneath a tree in the shade. I cooked a sirloin steak just for him last night and he finished the rest this morning.

I wish I could have given him more, he deserved more. I just want him to live forever on here

I miss you so much already, Happy. Walking down the hall doesn’t feel the same anymore without you keeping watch. I hope I can see you again someday. I won’t forget you, I promise.
