I 17(F) see my friend's family in a bad light now. They got a golden retriever who was super sweet and had him for 6 months. He had one issue: resource guarding. Which should be fixable but I guess it got bad. He would actually get aggressive about his toys and food. After 6 months, he bit the dad. This is where I'm suspicious, the dad hated the dog. He never wanted one and he was cruel towards him (lots of yelling, hitting). The dad went to the ER even though my friend said the bite wasn't even that serious. The dog had to do a mandatory 10 day quarantine after that. Apparently not a single shelter accepted the dog. I wanted to adopt him but the family wouldn't let me..I received heartbreaking news yesterday. They put him down and my friend received the ashes. He was a golden retriever!! Poor baby 😢, I visited my friend's house often and he never was aggressive. Just a puppy teething. Some families don't deserve pets.
Edit: I am in no way blaming my friend. This was her parents decision. Just wanted to clarify.
