Happy Birthday Lucas “bringer of light”

Happy 4th Birthday Lucas (bringer of light)!

About 4 years ago I lost my best buddy in the world, Cooper at only 5 to kidney disease. My world was shattered. I knew I’d eventually get another dog but had no idea I’d be ready after a month. We got a phone call from a friend who runs a rescue and she just said “IF you are ready to consider another dog, you HAVE to come see this guy!” She was having a rescue event at a local Petsmart and told me to come a little early to meet him. So we did and when the volunteer went out back to get him and put him in my arms, I immediately started bawling my eyes out. I instantly knew I was ready and needed a dog in my life.
Fast forward to today which is Lucas’s 4th birthday. He is truly a gift that came when I needed him most. Cooper was the first dog I ever lost and the pain was truly unbearable. I see a lot of Coop in Lucas almost like Cooper is communicating with me. My bond with Lucas is so strong despite the fact that I never thought I’d bond with another dog like I did Cooper. I am so grateful to have this pain in the ass in my life!

Dogs are something special, aren’t they?
