My beautiful rescue had 18 teeth removed on Thursday, he is recovering beautifully and I'm so proud of him ❤️

⚠️TW: neglect & abuse

We rescued Teddy (the blondie) from a neglectful home on January 18th 2026. He had been given to these neglectful owners by a man who abused him. He is only 4 and he's been through so much, but he is now thriving with a family who love him SO incredibly much. I cry when I look at him, he is my whole world (along with his big brother Bear.)

We've only had him for 14 weeks and during that time he's had so much work done.

- a 9 hour groom the moment I brought him home (performed by me! Not a clue what I was doing but adrenaline took over and I just had to do something)

He was covered in dreadlocks, couldn't see, covered in his own waste.. just so incredibly sad.

(He is due another haircut but I want to wait until he's recovered from surgery. I brush him every day.)

- his nails were curled round and growing into his pads preventing him from walking properly, I managed to cut the worst ones but didn't feel confident doing the rest so when he was under for his neuter they clipped them properly.

- neuter recovery was rough due to how malnourished he was, his body just didnt bounce back at all for a solid month.

- he had impacted and infected anal glands. :(

- he was 4.5kg when we rescued him, he is now 6.2kg! 🥰

- he couldn't see due to his hair being all matted around his eyes, plus solidified eye gunk in his matted fur.

- we had to rush him to the emergency vets on April 3rd because we thought he was having a seizure, it turned out to be severe tooth pain, he was then put on gabapentin. 2 decayed, rotten teeth fell out 3 days later (so all in all he's missing 20 teeth)

- chronic tooth decay. We were initially given a quote for 6 extractions which we thought was sad enough, imagine how much we cried when they told us it was 18!

- in 3 months he's had 8 separate bottles of painkillers to help him recover from all of the neglect he endured.

I am so proud of him (and his big brother Bear for welcoming him so beautifully.) His world before was so small, he lived in a hoarders home and they didn't have access to the back garden so they'd just let him out the front door on a busy road in the dark (this is how I became aware of him, thank fck I went for a walk at the time I did). He has now travelled all over the UK and has made lots of friends :') ❤️ I love my boy.
