Pup getting very opinionated during walks

My girl Avery is turning 12 soon and the past few months has been very opinionated about which direction we’re going to walk and even what side of the street sometimes. Is this a sign of anything or just some quirkiness of getting older?

For context she was super timid when young and would stick by my side. As an adult we would walk and jog and she always took cues from me. We have several different loops we would regularly walk and she always seemed happy with them until lately.

Sometimes I think she just doesn’t feel like a long walk and I get that. But the pickiness about which way we turn and what side of the street we’re on is curious to me and I wondered if anyone else has experienced this.
