Pretzel has terrible anxiety and just dived head first off the vet exam table and nearly killed himself. Once he hit the ground, he laid there crying and growling and pooping himself intermittently for 2-3 minutes. it was the worst thing I've witnessed in a long time. I rarely pray but I'm so worried for my boy. he was sedated for the appointment and not acting fearful and when he jumped, it was out of no where. I feel awful for not being able to stop it. I recently lost two dogs to immune mediated disease and thought I was going to lose Pretzel to acute head injury today. I won't know for the next few days if he's truly okay or not...I have to wait and see how he eats/drinks/acts. I've only had my baby three months and he's only 10 months old.
" anxious, fearful, sedated: Lept off exam table during examination and stunned himself during todays visit. Briefly laid in lateral vocalizing before righting himself and defecating. Exam remained normal by end of appointment. No skull fractures appreciated. PLR intact, behaviorally appropriate other than sedation from trazodone/gabapentin."
