Found Bo in a shelter, this is him 3 months later!

We had been searching for a new dog for a couple weeks after suddenly losing our puppy, and we eventually find this second hand shelter where dogs who never got adopted go, and while it might be the saddest place I've ever been to (they were blasting sad piano music in the room with all the kennels...), we found this sweet guy

We weren't really sure about this whole thing in general because we didn't really want a problem dog, but Bo was one of the only dogs who wasn't terrified of us when we walked past the kennels. So we asked if we could meet him, they put us into a room, and they warned us he was a very scared dog (red flag for us). He comes in, he wasn't expecting all of us there so he peed just a tiny bit, but then in a couple seconds immediately let us all pet him.

They tell us that he had been in his previous shelter for 3 months and he had just arrived here, and they had just neutered him (he was about 1 year and 3 months at the time). They didn't really know what his story was at all, but they gave us some hot dog bits to feed him and he didn't even know how to take treats, he lapped them up from our palm. It just felt right though, so we decided that day to adopt him.

We were worried that there would be some issues we might need to work with him on like potty training, making sure he isn't afraid of stuff, etc. but within a week he TOTALLY changed. He wasn't a scared dog at ALL, infact he was much more outgoing and curious than our previous puppy. He is genuinely the sweetest dog I have ever met, he's incredibly gentle when playing (and VERY responsible to kids or dogs that don't want to play with him, he learns boundaries with specific people/dogs extremely quickly) and has just been an amazing piece of our lives since we made the decision to adopt him. He literally doesn't have any issues besides jumping on people from happiness. Potty training wasn't an issue whatsoever. He also doesn't bark which is really nice as well, he only does it when he's playing with other dogs and even then it's rare. That or if he's over the moon excited for something

We are pretty sure he's a mix between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, his fur definitely grows like a poodle! He's definitely a Velcro dog, I leave my door open in case he wants to sleep in my bed with me.

It breaks my heart that he was stuck in a kennel for three months, he's SUCH a good boy and I don't understand why nobody would want him! I also have NO idea what his backstory is either, because based on his behaviors towards grooming and other stuff he definitely had owners at some point.. but he wasn't chipped? No collar either when found, I'm so curious what happened because he clearly wasn't physically abused or anything like that. I really hope he lives a long and fulfilling life with us ❤️
