This is my handsome perfect boy - my king Eddie. He is my first dog in adulthood that my brother and I were solely responsible for and we couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect dog for being our first. He was a heeler/collie mix which made for a dangerous combo of being really smart and really active. We brought him home 4/17/2010. In his puppy training classes, he was always the first one to do all the commands and tricks. He would escape from his crate ALL the time - he's even escaped out of the house gates several times but he would always just stay and wait for us on the doorstep. There were multiple times I would come home from work and he'd poke his head around the corner of the house. He knew how to open doors and cabinets. He would always rip toys apart into smaller pieces to chew on so we'd get him stronger bone toys that he'd figure out to go to the top of the staircase and drop down to break into smaller pieces to get to. He loved male dogs larger than him and loved smaller spunky females (like his sister Lily). He would gently take my socks off at the end of the day, being ever so careful not to get my toes. He knew how to ring a bell to ask for water if his bowl was empty or wanted to go outside. He knew a million tricks. He LOVED the beach and going swimming. We didn't go often, but he loved the snow too. He HATED getting dirty and always stayed perfectly still for bath time. He hated being alone and hated fireworks. He loved hunting flies and throwing his toys around in the air. When I was in my dating years, if my Eddie didn't like you - that was the end. He never liked cuddling but he liked hugs and always had to be in the same room.

I will likely adopt more dogs in the (far) future but Eddie will be my forever favorite. And I know his sister Lily will always be my very close second favorite because Eddie definitely rubbed off on her and she's inherited a lot of his habits and mannerisms. Life is going to be a lot harder and a lot worse now. I hate how short pet lifespans are. Thanks to Eddie, he helped me out some of my darkest times and made life worth living. Eddie was never the cuddly type but thankfully his sister Lily is which I'm going to really need after today.

I'd like to ask this community to post photos of their own lost pets and share a little bit about them. It will be really helpful to see what kind of new friends he'll make once he crosses. I want to know he won't be alone until Lily, my husband and I can be with him again.
