6 years have passed but I still miss you, Shy

This is the dog I mentioned in my previous post:

She was very shy at first and always approached strangers slowly, so we named her Shy. I was very lucky to have her, and I still miss her deeply. From what I’ve learned, dogs don’t remember traumatic events in detail; instead, they react to certain negative stimuli that trigger fear. Knowing this, I’m glad she was able to live a happy life with me. I used to take her for walks, and she would bark and move excitedly when I picked up the leash—sometimes making it hard to put it on her. But once we were outside, I could hold the leash with just one finger and she would calmly walk by my side. When she was off leash, she would stop to sniff and then run to catch up with me. She wasn’t very playful and only played occasionally, never with toys—only by running and being chased and sometimes with he rug. When she got older, I was the only one who walked her, because I kept on her pace. I even broke bones with a hammer when she could no longer break them herself. I truly hope she had a good life after everything she must have gone through. I still feel bad about her death sometimes: what started as a wart turned out to be a tumor, and then came the suffering at the end. I often think that if I had taken her to the vet sooner, things might have been different—but I also know she would have passed away anyway. I hope she was happy, after all she may have been through. RIP, Shy.
