| | Today, I lost my best friend of 17 years. The day that my family and I have been dreading finally came this morning when Shia’s condition became just too much to handle. She had been struggling with kidney issues for over a year now, as well as arthritis. She was receiving weekly IV treatment for her kidneys, and although her vet said her kidneys were returning to normal, it was her arthritis that was giving her too much pain. We made the decision to let her go peacefully when she suddenly woke up this morning in pain, and she gave us this look that told us it was time. Shia came into my family’s life in 2008 and changed our lives forever. She brought so much love and joy to us and anyone who met her. We are so incredibly blessed to have had 17 years with her. I genuinely don’t even remember what life was like before her. I’m gonna miss the sound of her nails click-clacking on the floor as she walked around the house. I’m gonna miss her waking me up in the morning with her endless kisses. I’m gonna miss seeing her tail wag rapidly back and forth in excitement whenever we came home. I’m gonna miss her running up to me with her favorite squeaky toy. I selfishly wished that you can stay with us forever, but I know it’s time to let you go and rest. Thank you for hanging on as long as you did. We are so grateful to have spent one final Christmas with you. You were so brave and so strong right up until your final moments. You’re the best girl. Now you can run and play with your furry friends in eternity. I love you forever and I’ll see you again baby girl💕 [link] [comments] |
