| | Dottie is a 6-7 year old Maltese/Maltese mix lady that has stolen my heart. Found as a wandering stray she managed to find her way into my orbit and I brought her home last Tuesday! We’re working on some recovery from severe flea dermatitis and a secondary yeast infection, and she’s going to need some dental work and a spay, but I’m so grateful to be the one she landed with. We’re working hard on building trust, she gets soooo excited when I’m around and is my little shadow but cowers and flinches when I try to touch her. I talk really gently, offer praise, and always have a pocket of treats. Any other tips? I’m VERY new to dog fostering, I’ve only done it a couple of times before and usually it’s puppies or younger big dogs, never an older mini dog lol. I’d love all the advice on making her feel safe and comfy. 🤍 She is the absolute sweetest! I adore her. 🥹 [link] [comments] |
