Whisky

Whisky

just want to share Whisky's story. He's the son of my dogs, who passed away a few years ago.

His mother died at 14 and his father at 11... Whisky is 10 years old now, and next June he'll turn 11, the same age his father was when he left us, and it brings a lump to my throat.

He's one of those dogs that rescues hearts. When he was born, his mother placed his tiny body in my hands... he grew into a giant whom I adore.

Today he no longer barks at the fence, and prefers to lie in the sun and sleep. Even so, whenever I go to my parents' house (he lives with them since I live in an apartment), he gets up and barks at me so I'll come say hello... and he wags his tail and seems like the happiest dog in the world, just from the simple fact of seeing me.

I'm sorry for the length of my text; I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for him when I lost his mother.

I hope he lives a couple more years, although I know that even if he lives for more years, I will never be ready for him to leave.
