Why can’t he live as long as we do?

7 years ago a ball of chaos engulfed us while we were on a walk. I was nervous being adopted by such a large dog, I’d always had medium dogs. He has become the heart of our family, he unites us when times are bad. The one thing we can always agree on is how much we love this adorable doofus.

His health is beginning to fail him at 12 years old and it breaks our hearts. We are enjoying as many good days as possible while preparing for the inevitable. His favorite human is coming home from college for Christmas and planning a camping trip just the two of them. It will be cold but they need that time together. I’m trying so hard to stay in the moment. Today is a good day.
