| Almost a full year since bringing my boy home from the shelter, and he finally let me trim his toes. It's been a long journey, with much trial and error. It got to the point that we were like "bro you have to do your nails, it's not optional and it's for your own health and well-being!" We resorted to working with a local groomer that was very patient, and we had to suspend him in midair using a dog hammock otherwise he would thrash around and hit his head. We tried the two person hug. We tried all manner of different files and clippers. We tried wrapping him in a blanket. We tried covering his face. We tried CBD, gabapentin, and trazadone. We even called the shelter to see if they had a certain method, to which they said "he's an angel, we've never had any issues. You should just drive 4 hours back here every 3 weeks to get it done." But this week he finally let me Dremel his nails at home. It's taken a lot of trust building and I'm so proud [link] [comments] |
